Iltutmish was the third sultan of the so-called Slave Dynasty. He consolidated the new Islamic sultanate in India after the death of his predecessor Qutb-ud-din Aibak. Iltutmish successfully stopped the rampaging Mongols from entering the Indian subcontinent.
