[Δ]ΗΜΟΣ ΛΑΟΔΙΚΕΩΝ, laureate head of Demos right / ΙΟΥΛΙΟΣ ΑΝΔΡΟΝΙΚΟΣ ΕΥΕΡΓΕΤΗΣ ΛΑΟΔΙΚΕΩΝ, Zeus Laodikaios standing facing, head left, holding eagle and scepter. RPC 2922; SNG Copenhagen 515; BMC 72. Dark sandy-green patina. Very fine.

Laodicea ad Lycum is the ""Laodicea"" mentioned five times in the book of Colossians and was one of the seven cities to receive letters in the book of Revelation. Some early manuscripts of I Timothy conclude with the phrase ""Written at Laodicea, metropolis of Phrygia.""
