Trajan. A.D. 98-117. Æ contorniate medallion (18x35 mm, 16.34 g, 6 h). Mid-late 4th century A.D. Laureate bust of Trajan right / Dionysus standing facing, head left, holding grape bunch and thyrsus, panther at feet; on either side below, maenad and satyr; on either side above, maenads. Alföldi 300. Heavy earthen-green patina. Halved in antiquity. Fine.
