Description
ATTICA, Athens. Circa 454-404 BC. AR Drachm (4.22 gm; 18 mm). Head of Athena right, wearing earring, necklace, and crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves over visor and a spiral palmette on the bowl / Owl standing to right, head facing; olive sprig and berry in upper left field, ATE to right; all within incuse square. SNG Copenhagen 41-3; Kroll 10; HGC 4, 1631. Lovely style. Well struck from nice high relief dies. Choice Superb EF "Almost as struck". Lightly toned. Very Rare.
