A lot of 4 nice ceramic lamps. The first is a Palestinian type, c. 2nd - 3rd Century AD, with three nozzles around central fill-hole, surfaces tan buff and undecorated with tall, unpierced handle and flattened disk base. L: 3 ¾” (9.5 cm). The second is a ‘Frog Lamp” from Roman Egypt, c. 4th - 5th Century AD, ovoid in shape, the shoulders nicely decorated around recessed fill-hole, the wick-hole with signs of heavy use, incised star on flattened base. L: 3 3/8” (8.6 cm). The third is a Late Roman / Byzantine type, c.5th - 6th Century AD, cradle-shaped with a female head at the front of the seat-type handle. L: 4 ¼” (10.8 cm). The last is a Late Roman / Byzantine type, c. 6th - 7th Century AD, ovoid, with ridge encompassing the fill-hole and wick-hole, raised pellets decorate the spout and raised floral devices around the shoulder, small conical handle at back, raised ring base on bottom. L: 3 7/8” (9.8 cm). The first with handle reattached, otherwise all intact with light deposits. Ex Orange County private collection. Value Range $300 - $400.
