Description
Black Sea Area, Imitating Thasos. 1st century B.C. AR tetradrachm (32 mm, 16.18 g, 1 h). Stylized head of Dionysos right / [HP]AKΛEOVΣ [ΣΩ]THPOΣ ΘAΣIΩN, stylized Herakles standing facing, head left, resting hand on grounded club and holding lion's skin draped over arm. Cf. Lukanc 1796 (obv. die very similar); Kostial 961-70, esp. 968ff; OTA pl. 46, Class II; CCCBM 224. EF, curved flan. Minimal wear and rare thus.
