Description
Ptolemaic Kingdom. Ptolemy I Soter. As King, 305-282 B.C. AR tetradrachm (26 mm, 13.70 g, 12 h). Contemporary imitation(?). Copying Alexandria. Diademed bust of Ptolemy I right, aegis tied at neck / BAΣIΛEΩΣ [ΠTOΛEM]AIOY, eagle with folded wings standing left on thunderbolt; in left field, P above A or AP monogram(?). Cf. Svoronos 248; cf. SNG Copenhagen 68. Nearly VF, surfaces a little porous. Unusual.
The crude engraving and low weight of this coin indicate that it is an imitation.
