Description
Macedonian Kingdom. Alexander III 'the Great'. 336-323 B.C. AV stater (19 mm, 8.52 g, 4 h). Lampsakos, lifetime issue, ca. 328/5-323 B.C. Head of Athena right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet the bowl of which is decorated with a coiled serpent / AΛEΞANΔP[OY], Nike standing facing, head left, holding wreath and stylis; in left field, foreparts of conjoined horses; below left wing, ΔΙΟ monogram. Price 1358; ADM II series V. Nice style. Two tiny rim bruises, otherwise extremely fine.
