M. Caecilius Q.f. Q.n. Metellus. 127 BC. AR Denarius (17mm - 3.76 g). Helmeted head of Roma right; star on neck-guard, ROMA behind, XVI (monogram) under chin / M. METELLVS. Q. F. around, Macedonian shield on which there is an elephant's head; all within laurel wreath. Crawford 263/1a; Sydenham 480; Caecilia 29. VF, toned, some light roughness and deposits.
