Description
C. Vibius Varus. 42 BC. AR Denarius (18mm - 3.87 g). Rome min. Head of Bacchus right, wearing wreath of ivy and grapes / C. VIBIVS in exergue, VARVS right, panther springing left toward garlanded altar on which there is a mask and thyrsos. Crawford 494/36; CRI 192; Sydenham 1138; Vibia 24. Good VF/EF, old, scuff on cheek, attractively toned with some multicolored iridescence on the reverse, reverse quite attractive.
