TABERISTAN. Umar ibn A’ala, (771-782 AD), Year 125. Silver Hemidrachm (1.98 gm; 24 mm). Crowned Sasanian bust to the right, name Omar-ibn A’la in Pahlavi in front of the face, Arabic name Umar ibn in the 3rd quarter margin and A’la on the second quarter margin on the 3rd quarter and Pahlavi phrase APD on the second quarter. Reverse; fire altar with attendants, mint TPURSTAN (Tabaristan) on the right, date: 125, The period coincides with reign of 2nd Abbasid Khalif; Al Manusr (754-775 AD). Lovely strike on a nice broad medallic flan. Choice FDC. Fully lustrous.
