Description

Persia or Afghanistan - Afsharid to early Qajar period; Anonymous. Civic Copper (4.42 gm; 15 mm). A poem written on both obverse and reverse; Obverse: fulus be ezzat-e shahi (a folus minted to the glory of the king), Hov(a) sorour be loghat-e ellahi (bringing joy and festivity sighting the word of God). Many Civic Copper coins in the period noted with poetry were minted in Rasht. Even though there are no mention of the mint name, it is possible that this coin was struck in the City of Rasht. See “Rasht” in Aledini. Nice original reddish-Green patina. Choice Good VF. Extremely Rare.
