Description
Buwayhids. Baha' al-Dawla Abu Nasr Firuz Kharshah. 379-403 / 989-1012. Debased AV dinar (26 mm, 4.66 g, 4 h). Suq al-Ahwaz, 399. Citing al-Qader billah, Shahenshah Qiwam al Din. Treadwell Su399G; Kazan 1010; BMC 672-3; Album 1573A. VF, a few light scratches on obverse. An unusually heavy specimen.
Treadwell notes that the blurred epigraphy of many Suq al-Ahwaz dinars dated 398 and 399 preclude die-linking. According to Steve Album, "These abundant coins may have been a local currency produced for some considerable period of time after 399, though their function remains unknown."
