SASANIAN KINGS. Bahram (Varhran) IV (388-399 AD). Silver Drachm (3.48 gm; 24 mm). SHUSH(I) mint. Obverse; Bahram bust turning right, reverse; fire altar with attendants and figure in the fire, mint abbreviation for SHUSH(I) behind the head. Earliest mint abbreviation for this important fortification and region in Present day Qarabagh region formerly under the sovereignty of Armenia and recently after a brief war under the control of Azerbaijan. This is an extremely rare mint and seems to be the earliest we have seen, other examples from Kavad I and Khosrau I also have been recorded. Sunrise 885var. Lovely elegant style. Choice EF. Toned.
