State of South Carolina. March 2, 1872. Uncut remainder sheet of four notes $1, $1, $2, $2. Criswell 3 and 4; Sheheen 10 and 11. Light fold between the $1 and $2 notes though not directly between and affecting the top of the first $2 note and a few other peripheral crinkles including a 1/4 inch tear at the bottom in the margin,, but XF-AU overall. Due to fraud at the highest levels in state government, the state legislature repudiated this entire issue and it never entered circulation.
