JULIUS CAESAR. January-February 44 BC. AR Denarius (19mm - 3.92 g). Rome mint. M. Mettius, moneyer. CAESAR IMP, laureate head of Caesar right, lituus and simpulum behind / [ M. METTIVS], Venus standing left, holding Victory in right hand, sceptre in left, shield resting on globe; G to left. Crawford 480/3; CRI 100; Sydenham 1056; BMCRR 4143; RSC 34. VF, attractively toned. Really a nice portrait, the reverse just a bit off-center.
