Description
Memorial Red-Figure Choes. Attica, 440-420 BC. A miniature Oinochoai with trefoil mouth and squat body decorated with a naked young boy crawling. The Choes was a spring festival of Dionysos which consisted of wine drinking; a prize was given to the first to consume the full chores (3.2 liters). Starting at the age of three, young boys could participate using these miniature vessels. 2.5” tall. Some oxidation to paint. Intact and very rare.
