Description
BYZANTINE EMPIRE. Michael VII. 1071-1078 AD. Histamenon Nomisma (scyphate). (4.33 gm; 30mm x 27mm). Constantinople mint. Obv: Bust of Christ facing, wearing nimbus with cross and raising right hand in benediction; in left hand book of Gospels; IC - XC across field; double border / Bust of Michael facing, bearded, wearing crown and loros, and holding labarum with pellet on shaft and cross on globe; double border. Berk 326; Sear 1868. Couple of small holes and a crack(not going through the whole coin). Loop added on the reverse at 6 (still wearable as a pendent). Choice Good VF.
