CONSTANTINE II, as Caesar. 317-337 AD. Æ Follis (18mm - 3.30 g). Imitative Issue, copying Trier. CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C C, laureate head right / PROVIDEN-TIAE CAESS, camp-gate with no doors and two turrets, star above; PTR. RIC -. Good VF, dark brown patina.
From the Zachary "Beast" Beasley Collection of Camp Gates; Ex Killingholme Hoard.
The obverse legend is not attested in RIC and the style and thickness of the lettering, along with the unusual size of the head as compared to the neck, suggests an imitative issue. Also, the bust type is not attested in RIC for the PTR series for Constantine II.
