Description
A nice piriform Pre-Dynastic alabaster mace head, Naqada II or III, c. 3,600 – 3,100 BC, with nice horizontal banding. H:1 3/4” (4.5 cm). Ex Cecil Best collection, London (1882 – 1973). The “piriform” or round mace head was used throughout Egypt and the Levante and replaced the disk-type mace during the Naqada II period of Pre-Dynastic Egypt.
