Description
A limestone canopic jar lid bearing the features of Duamutef, New Kingdom, c. 1570 - 1075 BC, the jackal-headed deity which protected the stomach. Some chipping to the face and traces of the original paint under light crystalline deposits. H: 3 ½” (8.9 cm). Cf. Bibliotheca Alexandrina Museum, no. 0824 for an identical type. Ex Los Angeles private collection.
