Description
A lot of 4 stone intaglios. The first is a Roman sardonyx ring stone with mask of Satyr in profile, Egypt, late 1st Cent BC to 1st Century AD. Minor chip to base. A nice stone with a high profile. 9 x 7 mm. The second is a Roman red jasper ring stone with a kantharos, 2nd – 3rd Century AD, palm frond emerging from the mouth. Intact. 7 x 5mm. The third is a lapis ring stone with deeply carved male head, Central Asia, 2nd – 1st Century BC. Nice blue stone and good detail. 17 x 10mm. The last is a carnelian oval intaglio with Kufic text, Iran, c. 8th - 10th Century AD. 10 x 9mm. Ex Los Angeles private collection.
