A fine Nazca polychrome bowl from Peru, c. 200 – 400 AD. This round-bottom example is 5-1/2" in diameter and is decorated with five depictions of slings, which were traditional Andean weapons. Nice example with vivid paint over rare black background and extensive mineral deposits. Cf. Kroeber Pottery of Nazca Peru, page 104 and Proulx Sourcebook of Nasca Iconography, page 173.
