Lot 375: ANTIQUITIES, A Gorgeous Hellenistic Figure of a Seated Woman

A beautiful Hellenistic figure of a seated woman, 3rd – 2nd Century BC, her hair in plaits and pulled into a double chignon. She sits contemplatively on rocky platform, resting right elbow on a vase beside her, her left hand draped over her left knee. Her chiton slips slightly from her right shoulder and her shawl hangs loosely around her. Traces of original pigment over the white dressing. H: 6 5/8” (17 cm). Repaired at neck, otherwise intact and outstanding! A wonderful example of Hellenistic terracotta art!Ex old French collection
