Lot 280: ANTIQUITIES, Gallinazo-Viru whistle bottle

A lovely Gallinazo-Viru double-chambered whistle bottle from Peru, c. 1 - 100 AD. The primary chamber is an unusual avian form, 5-1/2"" high, with the open head and perforated eyes allowing the player to significantly alter the tone of the whistle hidden within. Both chambers are decorated with a Maltese Cross design, as well as stylized solar symbols, all executed in the negative resist style characteristic of this rare type.
