Description

An attractive Late New Kingdom terracotta ushabti, c. 1292 - 1075 BC, a ‘reis’ or overseer type wearing characteristic kilt and triangular apron of daily life, tripartite headdress, hands together at breast holding pick and hoe. An interesting example, the upper body mummiform and the legs and feet depicted bare. H: 7 ¾” (19.7 cm). Intact with remains of dressing and black detail. Mounted on a custom lucite base. Ex Dr. Gilles collection, Germany, acquired before 1960.
