Description
Macedonian Kingdom. Alexander III 'the Great'. 336-323 B.C. AR tetradrachm (25 mm, 16.97 g, 12 h). Sardes, under Philip III, ca. 323-319 B.C. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin headdress / ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ, Zeus seated left, holding eagle and scepter; in left field, TI; below throne, ivy leaf. Price 2610; ADM I series XIV. Well centered and a pleasing obverse die. Minor encrustation on reverse. Very fine.
