Description
Mysia, Pergamon. Ca. 166-67 B.C. AR tetradrachm (27 mm, 12.63 g, 12 h). Cistophoric type. Ca. 92-88 B.C. Serpent emerging from within cista mystica with lid ajar; all within ivy wreath / Two serpents entwined around bowcase; above, AΣ and monogram above; in left field, monogram of city; in right field, serpent coiled around thyrsos. Kleiner 29; SNG BN 1713-4 var. (no monogram above). Lightly toned. Very fine.
