Description
Cilicia, Tarsos. Datames. Satrap of Cilicia and Cappadocia, 384-361/0 B.C. AR stater (23 mm, 9.59 g, 11 h). Ca. 375 B.C. Baaltars seated right, torso facing, holding grain ear, grape bunch, and eagle-tipped scepter; below throne, facing bucranium; all within crenellated wall / Datames seated right, wearing Persian dress, holding arrow; in upper right field, winged solar disk; in lower right field, bow. Casabonne type 2; Moysey issue 6; SNG BN 284-8; SNG Levante 88. Toned. Porosity on reverse. Very fine.
