Lot 233: ANTIQUITIES, Chimu Calero

A choice Chimu calero from Peru, c. 1100 – 1450 AD. It is 4-1/4" long, made from a polished gourd and is complete with the wood stopper/dipper. It is decorated with a trio of pyro-incised birds. The fourth panel was perhaps not completed, looks like a stingray was outlined. A very rare type. Ex Hutchings collection. Value range: $300 - $350
