Lot 265: ANTIQUITIES, A Hellenistic Terracotta Figure of a Man with a Youth

A standing figure of a grotesque or elderly man with a youth, Hellenistic, c. 3rd - 2nd Century BC. The man stand barefoot, wearing a robe with sash at his waist and a pointed cap, and holds the hand of a youth, wearing a robe and holding an uncertain object over his shoulder. H: 7” (17.7 cm). Intact with traces of white dressing, large A (maker’s mark) stamped on back of base below the vent hole. Old collection label with notes and date, 22 / 1 / 1927. Ex Orange County private collection. Value range $500 - $700.
