Low Countries, ‘MERE’, Attributed to Godfrey the Bearded, Count of Friesland (1046–65). Silver penny / denar, 0 57 gms; 17 mm. Facing head. +VS?O?V… / Three storied, pyramid shaped building. S to left and small ?/? to right. ?RH[ ]DIOOV. Ilisch, (JMP 1997/8), p. 267, no. 24.6. This variety apparently known only from a coin in the Ludwiszcze hoard no. 105. (Same reverse die?). Very Fine
