GAIUS, "Caligula". 37-41 AD. Æ As (29mm - 10.71 g). Rome mint. Struck 37-38 AD. C CAESAR AVG GERMANICVS PON M TR POT, bare head left / VESTA, S-C across field, Vesta seated left, holding patera in right hand, scepter in left. RIC I 38; BMCRE 46; BN 54. Good VF, dark brown patina, numerous fine cleaning scratches and very minor smoothing, none of the scratches very deep and appear to just be in the patina. Could probably be much improved with a proper cleaning.
