SASANIAN KINGS. Shahpur III. AD. 383-388. AR Drachm (4.02 gm; 27 mm). Bust right, wearing flat-topped crown with korymbos / Fire altar with ribbons and bust right in flames; flanked by two attendants, each wearing flat-topped crown with korymbos; no legends at sides, monograms on altar shaft. SNS type Ic/1b (pl. 25, A3); Göbl type I/1; Paruck -; Saeedi -; Sunrise 875. Phrase “Atash e- Shapur” clearly visible on either side of attendants, typically this legend is always blundered. Clear portrait of the figure in the altar turning right-Much more scare than the figure turning left. Sharply struck on a nice broad flan. Choice EF.
