Description
Judaea, Bar Kochba Revolt. 132-135 C.E. AR zuz - denarius (19 mm, 3.21 g, 12 h). Undated issue (year 3, struck 134/5 C.E.). "Shim'on" in Hebrew within wreath / "For the freedom of Jerusalem" in Hebrew, fluted jug with handle; branch to right. Mildenberg 121 (O18/R76); TJC 283 var. (pellet in center of obv.); AJC II 66; Hendin 1427; Bromberg 498 (same dies). Lightly toned with some striking weakness. Traces of an undertype, but not identifiable. Very fine.
