Description
Ptolemaic Kingdom. Ptolemy III Euergetes. 246-222 B.C. Æ (35 mm, 30.96 g, 12 h). Alexandria. Diademed head of Zeus-Ammon right / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ, eagle standing left on thunderbolt; in left field, filleted cornucopiae; between legs, XP monogram. Svoronos 965; SNG Copenhagen 173-5. Brow patina with some red, light deposits and minor roughness in sports. Very fine.
Comes with an old collection envelope from the early 1960s showing the previous owner paid $2.50.
