Description

A large Chavin bottle from Peru, c. 1200 – 200 BC. This fine Tembladera type is 10-1/2” high and is decorated with four stylized deity designs characteristic of the type. The stirrup spout, design features and underside are covered with burnished red slip, while the rest of the chamber is unburnished orange clay. Intact, with strong mineral deposits and trails. Museum deaccession. Value range: $600 - $800
