Lot 195: ANTIQUITIES, Moche Figural bottle

An excellent Moche figural bottle from Peru, c. 400 – 600 AD. This beautifully formed vessel is 7-1/2” high and depicts an intense looking individual with puffed out cheeks. The face is superbly detailed and is highlighted with kaolin paint. A fancy mantle is indicated by the star shaped design covering the top of the chamber. In excellent condition, with extensive mineral deposits on the red slip. Ex Sarmiento collection. Value range: $500 - $750
