Syria, Seleukis and Pieria. Apameia. 1st century B.C. Æ (12 mm, 1.63 g, 12 h). S.E. 242 (71/0 B.C.). Head of Dionysos right, wearing ivy wreath / AΠAMEΩN THΣ IEPAΣ KAI AΣYΛOY, grape bunch; in inner right field, date (BMΣ); in outer left field, monogram. Cf. HGC 9, 1433; Lindgren III 1175. Dark brown patina with earthen-green highlights, small edge split. Good very fine.

Apparently unrecorded date. S.E. 242 was unknown to Seyrig and the list in RPC I, p. 631 for any variety of Apameian civic bronze of the first century B.C.
