Description
Parthian Kingdom. Vologases I. Ca. A.D. 51-78. AR tetradrachm (26 mm, 14.21 g, 12 h). Seleukeia on the Tigris, S.E. 363 (A.D. 51/2). Diademed bust of Vologases I left, wearing spiral torc / [BACIΛEωC]/BAC]IΛE[ωN/APCAKOV]/EVEPΓE[TOV]/ΔIKAIOV/EΠΙΦAN[OVC/ΦIΛ]EΛΛHNOC, king enthroned left, receiving wreath from Tyche standing right, holding scepter; above, year (ΓΞT); in exergue, month (off flan). Cf. Sellwood 68.4-8; Shore 370. Well centered and lightly toned. Very fine.
