Parthian Kingdom. Osroes II. Ca. A.D. 190. AR drachm (20 mm, 3.60 g, 12 h). Ekbatana. Diademed and draped bust of Osroes II left, wearing tiara with hooks on crest and vertically on the side / Legend severely blundered, archer seated right, holding bow; above bow, pellet; below bow, monogram and pellet. Cf. Sellwood 85.2 and 85.3; cf. Shore 439 (no pellets). Unrecorded variety. Lightly toned. Good very fine.
Sellwood recorded three varieties of Osroes II drachms; 85.1 has an A-T monogram below the archer's bow; 85.2 is as 85.1, but with the addition of a pellet above the bow; on 85.3, the monogram lacks the crossbar of the A, thus making it Λ-T. Shore records an additional variety with a three-line legend and without archer! However, neither Sellwood nor Shore record this particular variety with Λ-T monogram and a pellet above and below the bow.
