From an American Collection of Biblical and Related Coinage.
A note from the collector: This coin would very likely been in circulation in Ephesus and/or Smyrna at the time the letters mentioned in the New Testament book of Revelation arrived in the two cities. Also, the reverse's depiction of the cult statue of Artemis is reminiscent of the Apostle Paul's harrowing experience in Ephesus as narrated in Acts 19:24-35 when those profiting financially from this cult instigated a large-scale uproar against Paul.
