SASANIAN KINGS, Shahpur II. AD. 309-379. Gold Dinar (7.12 gm; 18 mm). Marv mint VI (Merv), ca. AD 320. Bust of Shapur II right, wearing mural crown with korymbos, pellet to right. Rev. Fire altar with ribbons; mint mark letters “mrwn” to right of altar shaft. Large dot on the obverse field at 4. Rare variety. SNS type Ib1/2a; MK -; Loginov & Nikitin 2, type 4; Göbl type Ia/7; Paruck 245; Saeedi AV47; Sunrise 838(this coin). Wonderful elegant style. Sharply struck on a nice compact flan.
