Description
Tabaristan, Abbasid Governors. 'Umar b. al-'Ala. 771-780. AR hemidrachm (23 mm, 1.92 g, 3 h). Fifth series with name in Pahlavi and Arabic. PYE 125. Crowned Sasanian style bust right / Fire altar flanked by attendants; star and crescent flanking flames; fleur-de-lys in place of normal three-pellets in outer margin. Malek 77; Album 57 (r). Very lustrous and fully centered. Superb extremely fine.
