Description
Tabaristan, Abbasid Governors. 'Umar b. al-'Ala. 771-780. AR hemidrachm (24 mm, 1.93 g, 1 h). Fifth series with name in Pahlavi and Arabic. PYE 125. Crowned Sasanian style bust right / Fire altar flanked by attendants; star and crescent flanking flames; fleur-de-lys in place of normal three-pellets in outer margin. Malek 77; Album 57 (r). An incredible specimen. Wonderfully centered on a full flan with complete border. Fully lustrous and superb extremely fine.
