Sicily, Syracuse. Philistis, wife of Hieron II. 275-215 B.C. AR 16 litrai (16 mm, 13.16 g, 6 h). Ca. 218/7-214 B.C. Diademed and veiled head of Philistis left; in right field, star / BAΣIΛIΣΣAΣ ΦIΛIΣTIΔOΣ, Nike driving slow quadriga right; in right field, K. Burnett 34; cf. SNG ANS 881 (obv. symbol off flan). Toned. Light polishing on cheek, minor porosity, hairline flan crack. Otherwise well struck. Extremely fine.
