Description
Macedon. First Meris. Ca. 167-148 B.C. AR tetradrachm (30 mm, 16.76 g, 12 h). Amphipolis. Diademed and draped bust of Artemis right, bow and quiver at shoulder, in central boss of Macedonian shield / ΜΑΚΕΔΟΝΩΝ ΠΡΩΤΗΣ, club; above, monogram; below, two monograms; all within oak wreath; in outer left field, thunderbolt. SNG Ashmolean 3299; SNG Copenhagen 1314; AMNG III/1 176. Small scrape on reverse. Extremely fine.
