M. Caecilius Q.f. Q.n. Metellus. Restored issue, 82-80 BC. AR denarius (18 mm, 3.97 g, 8 h). ROMA, diademed head of Apollo right; XVI (monogram) before / M. METELLVS. Q. F. around, Macedonian shield on which there is an elephant's head; all within laurel wreath. Crawford 369/1; Sydenham 719; Caecilia 30. Well centered and sharply struck on a nice flan. Extremely fine.
