England. Anne. 1702-1714. AR medal (36 mm, 15.82 g, 12 h). Accession of Anne. Undated issue, struck 1702. By J. Crocker. ANN D G MAG BR FR ET HIB REGINA, crowned and draped bust of Anne left / ENTIRELY ENGLISH, heart surrounded by crowned wreath of laurel and oak branches; all set on pediment inscribed ATAVIS/REGIBVS in two lines. MI 227/1; Eimer 388. Attractivley toned. Superb extremely fine.

The English portion of the reverse legend emanates from the declaration made by Anne while addressing both Houses of Parliament on 11 March 1702: "As I know my own heart to be entirely English, I can very sincerely assure you there is not anything you can expect or desire from me which I shall not be ready to do for the happiness and prosperity of England."
