Calabria, Taras. Ca. 315-300 B.C. AR nomos (20 mm, 7.39 g, 9 h). Sa... and Ar..., magistrates. Nude warrior, wearing helmet, on horseback right, holding shield and two spears, thrusting spear downward; below horse, magistrate's name: ΣΑ / TAPAΣ, Phalanthos riding dolphin left, holding kantharos and trident; in left field, magistrate's name: [A]/P; below, dolphin left. Fischer-Bossert grp. 70, 848 (V336/R659); Vlasto 621 (same dies); SNG ANS 995; HN Italy 937. Lightly toned, corrosion. Very fine.
